The College Hall of Fame Road Show is Coming to Ryan Field

Sept. 3, 2002

EVANSTON, Ill. - The College Football Hall of Fame Road Show will be making its way to Ryan Field for the Wildcats' game vs. TCU on Saturday, Sept. 7. The Road Show will be displayed near the entrance to Wildcat Alley beginning at 10 a.m.

The College Football Hall of Fame Road Show is the Hall's state-of-the-art, traveling Hall of Fame recreational vehicle that serves as a traveling museum. The interior of the 38-foot vehicle features displays, artifacts and memorabilia from the Hall, while the exterior reflects the same dynamic qualities of the museum itself.

Upon entering the Road Show, visitors will immediately see a display opposite the entrance that is a three-dimensional montage of images and artifacts representing the permanent exhibits at the Hall of Fame, including a continuously playing video tour of the Hall. This display will be housed within the slide-out section of the RV, consisting of a large ink-jet mural background and memorabilia including a band uniform, helmets, autographed balls, a cheerleader's uniform, trophies, significant game program covers and other football-related books, including a coach's playbook. Completing the left side of the vehicle is an interactive kiosk entitled "Great Moments" that plays bloopers, great upsets, legendary games and memorable plays.

The right side of the RV displays the "Evolution of Equipment," where guests can view such items as pads, helmets and shoes from the early 1900s to the present. The evolution of equipment is explained with a mural to enhance the exhibit.

Further back on the right side, the "Pantheon -- Past and Present" showcases individual award winners and the jerseys of several college football greats. Each of the 10 awards and trophies given annually to college football standouts are highlighted with a photograph and explanation. The Pantheon also features a mini-theater with touch-screen display.

At the back of the unit, replica sculpture plaques of select Hall of Famers adorn the area, while a videosphere offers a kaleidoscopic view of highlights of the past year's enshrinees.
