AUSTIN, Texas - Heading into the second day of competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, Northwestern has yet to pick up any points. NU swimmers competed in four events with no Wildcat advancing to the evening finals in day one. The action will continue through Saturday.
The 'Cats opened the day on a sour note, as they disqualified from the 200 free relay.
In the 500 free, Vicky West (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) placed 55th with a time of 4:48.68.
Merritt Adams (Norcross, Ga./The Lovett) finished 61st in the 200 IM (2:03.20) with Katie Simmons (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) right behind in 63rd place (2:09.15).
In the final event of the evening, the 400 medley relay, NU placed 21st with a time of 3:45.51.
On Friday, prelims will begin at noon, with finals at 7 p.m. Results will be posted after each race at www.ncaa.org.
