Women's Golf Team in 11th Place at Verizon MoMorial Tournament

March 4, 2002

BRYAN, Texas -- Less-than-ideal weather conditions postponed the start of this year's Verizon "Mo"Morial Tournament, which is being hosted by Texas A&M University. As a result, one of the three rounds was canceled, leaving one round to play on Tuesday. The Wildcats sit in a three-way tie for 11th place with Kent State and Kansas State.

The "Mo"Morial is being played at the Briarcrest Country Club, a 6,109-yard, par-72 course.

Sophomore Hana Kim (Encino, Calif./Brentwood) led Northwestern, shooting a 6-over-par 78 -- good enough for an 11th-place tie in the individual race. Hana's younger sister, Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) is tied for 23rd place after firing an 80 in the opening round.

Three of the top four schools come from the Big Ten. Ohio State owns an 8-stroke lead heading into the final round. Michigan State and Indiana sit third and fourth, respectively. OSU's Kristen White shot a 3-over-par 75 for a one-stroke lead.
