INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Northwestern's women's basketball team ended its regular season with a heartbreaking 60-58 loss to Wisconsin Thursday night at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Freshmen Samantha McComb and Suzanne Morrison led the NU offense, scoring 14 and 15 points respectively. Classmate Sarah Kwasinski chipped in 10 points and had four steals.
Up by one at half, 27-26, NU came out flat in the second half, allowing Wisconsin to go on an 18-5 run to start the period. Jessie Stomski, Wisconsin's leading scorer, had three easy baskets during the run.
NU refused to give up, going on a 10-0 run of their own to bring the score to within one at 58-57 with a minute remaining. The second-half comeback was led by McComb's three three-pointers as the Michigan native hit four total in the game.
After Wisconsin's Kristi Seeger hit one of her two free throws, NU brought the ball down to tie the score as Natalie Will's nine-footer in the lane bounced of the front and right side of the rim, giving Wisconsin the 60-58 win.
