SEATTLE - Northwestern's men's tennis team dropped its second match of the season to a Top 25 team, falling 4-3 to No. 24 Indiana State at the Great Northwest Shootout.
No. 49 NU (5-2, 1-0 Big Ten) clinched the doubles point, as the doubles teams of Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Russell Bennett (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), and Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) won their matches by scores of 8-6.
In singles action, Hanus remains undefeated with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 56 Vedran Vidovic at the No. 2 position.
Josh Axler was the only other Wildcat to pick up a singles win, defeating David O'Connell 6-4, 6-3. ISU's Lorre Brajkovic clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 victory over Jenkins.
NU continues at the Great Northwest Shootout on Saturday, taking on No. 55 Louisville at noon CST.
