EVANSTON, Ill. - The No. 9 Northwestern women's tennis team has been invited to compete in the 15th annual United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wis. The tournament will take place Feb.7-10 at the A. C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
The tournament will gather the top college teams from across the country including defending national champion and current No. 1 Stanford. Last year the 'Cats opened the Championship with an upset over then-No. 8 UCLA. In the second round, Northwestern was defeated by then-No. 12 Vanderbilt, but the Wildcats rebounded on the final day to upset then-No.9 Southern California.
The full tournament field includes: Baylor, No. 3 Duke, No. 11 Fresno State, No. 5 Georgia, No. 9 Northwestern, No. 17 North Carolina, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 18 Oklahoma State, Old Dominion, No. 7 Southern California, No.1 Stanford, Tennessee, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Wake Forest, No. 12 Washington and Wisconsin.
