EVANSTON, Ill. - If day one was something of a letdown, day two was about vengence.
Northwestern's women's fencing team, coming off two victories and its first loss of the season in Saturday's competition, defeated Cleveland State (23-4), Fairleigh Dickinson (22-5), and traditional fencing powerhouse North Carolina (20-7) in the final day of competition at the NU Duals.
With the wins, NU moves to 11-1 overall. Individually, the foil squad holds a perfect 12-0 record, while the sabre and ep?e squads each have an 11-1 record. No squad dropped a bout in Sunday's competition.
Freshman foilist Julie F?ldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istv?n Gimn?zium) fenced a perfect 15-0 in competition this weekend. Her personal record now stands at 29-1. Junior ep?eist Kate Rudkin (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) finished 12-2 and moves to 25-3 overall. Senior ep?eist Jen Greenebaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingry School) went 13-2 in her bouts and is now 23-4 on the season.
