EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's women's fencing team won its first two duals of Saturday competition at the annual NU Duals, but dropped the third dual to Temple.
The Wildcats improve to 8-1 on the season after handily defeating Lawrence, 25-2, and Johns Hopkins, 20-7.
The final score of the matchup with Temple was 14-13. The sabre squad was defeated 7-2, and ep?e fell 5-4. The foil squad was the last to compete and they dropped 5-4 in close bouts.
Freshman foilist Julie F?ldi was the only Wildcat to go undefeated while fencing in each competition. She finished 7-0 on the day.
The NU Duals will conclude on Sunday. Northwestern faces Cleveland State at 11 a.m., Fairleigh Dickinson at 12:30 p.m. and North Carolina at 2 p.m. All events take place at Patten Gymnasium.
