Women's Lacrosse Signs Seven To Letters of Intent

Dec. 10, 2001

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller announced the signing of seven women to National Letters of Intent. They will be eligible to join the Wildcats for the 2003 season.

Northwestern is resurrecting the women's lacrosse program this spring after a nine-year absence. From 1982-91, the Wildcats sported one of the finest women's lacrosse programs in the country, and Amonte Hiller is aiming to bring that success back to Evanston.

Amonte Hiller scoured the lacrosse-playing parts of the country to come up with her signees. She plucked Laura Glassanos (Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy) from her own high school alma mater, and a player from one of the top high school lacrosse programs in the country in Sarah Bailey (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens and St. Agnes). She also signed Lindsey Munday (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) from off the east coast.

Amonte Hiller also had success in the Midwest region, signing a trio of players who earned honorable mention All-America as juniors last spring: Jenny Bush (New Albany, Ohio/Columbus Academy), Lynda McCandlish (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Katie Watt (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS). She also signed Kacee Must (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood).

"I am excited about the seven prospects that we signed in the early period," said Amonte Hiller of her newly signed crop. "I think these girls will add a great deal to the unit that we currently have in place. Each prospect has her own unique abilities that will increase the overall depth on our team."
