Women's Swimming and Diving Fourth After Day 1 of Georgia Invitational

Athens, Ga. - After one night of finals, the Northwestern women's swimming and diving squad is in fourth place with 156 points. They trail host Georgia, who leads with 244 points.

Junior Rachel Johnson (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) was the Wildcats only first-place finisher this evening. Johnson won the 200 IM with an NCAA provisional time of 2:03.11.

NU continues to excel in the distance events as sophomore Stephanie Cranston (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute Country Day) came in third in the 500 freestyle, touching in 4:53.69. Her time was also an NCAA provisional time.

Junior Megan Keefe (Blowing Rock, N.C./Watauga) placed fifth in the 200 freestyle race with a time of 1:34.01. This was the first time this season that Keefe has participated in the 200 free. She also led off the 200 free relay squad that finished fifth in 1:34.01.

Action will continue tomorrow morning with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. and evening finals at 6:30 p.m.
