Nov. 15, 2001

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head men's golf coach Pat Goss announced today the signing of Bryson Young (Reno, Nevada/Galena H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Northwestern University beginning the fall of 2002.

"We're excited about Bryson's decision to attend Northwestern," said Goss. "He was the top player we targeted in this year's recruiting class. We think he'll fit in well with us and make us a better team in the future."

Earlier this year, Young qualified for the 2001 Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour, shooting a 65 in the qualifier. He also qualified for the 2000 and 2001 USGA Junior Amateur Championships.

This past year at Galena High School, Young finished second in the Nevada State High School Championships with rounds of 76 and 67. He is a three-time team captain and a first-team all-conference honoree.

Northwestern's men's golf program has captured the past three Big Ten Conference championships and posted three top-10 NCAA finishes in Goss' five-year tenure. The Wildcats have produced five All-Americans under Goss.
