Ohio State Defeats Indiana, 5-0, in Game One of the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament opened play this morning, as No. 2 seed Ohio State defeated seventh-seeded Indiana 5-0 at Lakeside Field on the campus of Northwestern University.

Ohio State improves their record to 13-4 overall, 5-1 in Big Ten action. Indiana closes out their season at 1-16 overall and 0-6 in the Big Ten.

All of the Buckeye goals came in the first half. Vanessa Immordino and Lucy Clayton scored two goals apiece, while Lorena Margni had one. Margni, Kimberly Reedy and Marije van Nouhuys were credited with two assists apiece.

The Buckeyes outshot Indiana, 22-3, and had 18 penalty corners, one of which they converted for a goal.

Tournament play continues this afternoon as the No. 4 and 5 seeds, Iowa and Penn State, face off at noon. No. 6 seed Northwestern hosts third-seeded Michigan at 2 p.m.
