Wildcat Women's Golf Team Sits in Eighth Place After Day One at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Led by freshman Ina Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood), Northwestern's women's golf team sits in eighth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Kim shot a two-over-par 74 to lead the Wildcats, who sit 11 strokes behind leader Duke University. She is tied for 12th in the individual standings. Northwestern is one stroke behind the host school and five strokes behind Auburn, LSU and Michigan State, who are tied for fourth place. Georgia, Purdue and Auburn are positioned second, third and fourth, respectively.

Other Northwestern golfers include Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), who is tied for 27th with a 76, Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Bluff) who is also sitting in 27th place with a 76, Hana Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood), Ina's older sister, who is tied for 43rd with a 78, and Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett), who is also tied for 43rd with a 78.

Tournament play continues Saturday and Sunday.
