Men's Soccer Welcomes No. 6 Indiana to Lakeside Field Sunday

Oct. 11, 2001

Evanston, Ill. - Men's soccer will face their biggest challenge of the year this weekend as sixth-ranked Indiana comes to town for a conference match-up. The Hoosiers enter the weekend with a 7-2-0 overall record, and lead the Big Ten with a 3-0-0 mark. Before coming to Evanston Indiana will make a stop in Wisconsin to face the Badgers Friday night. The Wildcats will host the Hoosiers Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Field.

One goal has been the difference between a loss or a tie in six games for NU this season. In fact, the 'Cats have fallen in the final minutes of the game the last three times out. In their two ties this season, NU has come back from early deficits to even the score.

The 'Cats are winless against the Hoosiers, losing all 17 times the teams have meet. Last season in Bloomington, IU defeated NU 4-1. Wildcat junior Steven Jedlinski (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) was credited with the assist on Jun Kim's goal in the loss.

Indiana boast two of the top players in the nation in junior All-American Pat Noonan and freshman Mike Ambersley. The pair hail from the same high school and now lead the Hoosiers in scoring with 21 and 12 points, respectively. Ambersley picked up eight points in just two games last week, including a hat trick at Michigan.
