URBANA, ILL. - The Northwestern women's golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Lady Northern Invitational in Urbana, Ill. The lead is currently being held by Michigan shooting a first round 290, leaving the Wildcats 13 strokes behind (303).
The Wildcats are led by the Elizabeth Burden, Emily Gilley duo, as they both finished the day shooting 75s. They trail Katie Futcher of Penn State by seven strokes as the leader carded a 68.
Playing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Ina Kim shot a first round 76 putting her in a tie for 19th. Sophomore Lauren Grzebien carded a 77 while her younger sister, Mary Ellen Grzebien, also a freshman on the NU golf team, finished her first round with an 80. Older sister to Ina Kim, Hana Kim rounded out the Wildcat contingent with an opening round 82.
The tournament is being held at Stone Creek Golf Club, a Par 72-5,842 yard course.
