HIGH WYCOMBE, England - Northwestern women's lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller continues to be among the leaders for Team USA, which rolled to a pair of easy victories in classification play at the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Association (IFWLA) World Cup. As a result, the US will play Australia for the world title Saturday.
Amonte Hiller -- a two-time national player of the year during her playing days at Maryland -- had two goals and two assists against Germany on Wednesday, as the U.S. cruised to an 18-0 win. On Thursday, Team USA destroyed Canada, 25-2, in a semifinal matchup. Amonte tied for the team lead in scoring, notching two goals and adding five assists for seven points.
Through five games at the World Cup, Amonte has scored scored 12 goals and dished off 13 assists for 25 points.
Saturday's game with Australia -- a rematch of the 1997 World Cup final, which the U.S. won 3-2 in overtime -- will begin at 2 p.m. in High Wycombe (8 a.m. Chicago time).
Australia advanced to the final with a 19-4 win over Scotland and an 8-2 victory over host England.
