Luke Donald Named Golf World Collegiate Player of the Week

Evanston, Ill. - Northwestern senior men's golfer Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England/Royal Grammar School) was named Golf World Collegiate Player of the Week for his performance at last week's Big Ten Championships. This is the second time this season that Donald has received the honor.

Donald shot a 9-under-par 279, including a course-record 65 in the second round, at Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill., to capture medalist honors for the second straight year at the Big Ten Championships. Donald used three birdies on the back nine to come back from two down and lead the Wildcats to their third consecutive title.

Donald's victory was his fourth in a row and the 13th of his career. For his efforts, he was also named Big Ten Player of the Year for a third time.

Donald and the rest of the `Cats head to Stillwater, Okla. next weekend to participate in the 2001 NCAA Central Regional.
