Women's Golf Set to Tee Off at NCAA East Regional

Evanston, Ill. - The 16th-ranked Northwestern women's golf team begins its journey for a repeat trip to the NCAA Championships this weekend, stopping first in Chapel Hill, N.C., for the East Regional.

NU will compete in a three-day, 54-hole tournament, playing 18 apiece on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The top eight teams out of the field of 21, and the top two individuals not on one of those top eight teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships at Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Last year, NU made its first-ever NCAA Championship appearance.

Last year at the East Regional, the `Cats finished second behind Duke in Columbus, Ohio. Emily Gilley was the `Cats' top placer with a 6-over-par 222, putting her in a tie for 11th. Elizabeth Burden followed with an 8-over-par 224, tying for 15th.
