URBANA, Ill. - With one round left to go at the Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, Northwestern is in first place at Stone Creek Golf Course (par 72-7,118 yards). NU has shot rounds of 289-280-284=853 and is one stroke ahead of second-place Purdue as the Wildcats continue to gun for their third straight Big Ten title.
Individually, Luke Donald grabbed the lead after a course-record, 7-under-par 65 in the day's first round. In Saturday's second round, Donald carded a 73 to remain in first place by a stroke. Freshman Tom Johnson fired two rounds under 70 today to put himself in fourth place. Scott Harrington finished the day at even par with a three-round total of 216, while Chris Thayer is one over with a 217. T.C. Ford shaved four strokes off his score, shooting par in today's second round.
Golfers will tee off tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. for the final 18 holes.
