EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis players Colleen Cheng and Lia Jackson have been awarded entrance into the individual NCAA Championships. Both players will compete in the singles draw at the NCAA Championships, set to begin May 21 in at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Cheng is making her second straight appearance in the NCAA field. She finished the 2001 regular season with a 28-12 overall record and has been ranked among the nation's top 45 since February, moving up from a fall ranking of No. 80. Cheng has compiled a 116-28 career record as a Wildcat.
Jackson will be making her first NCAA appearance in the singles compeition. The junior is currently ranked 59th and enters the NCAA tournament with a 29-11 overall record.
