EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University has named its Athletes of the Week for April 16. The selections were made based on athletic competition from April 9-15.
MALE -- Luke Donald, Golf
Senior Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England/Royal Grammar School) took medalist honors at the Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio, firing a three-round total of 1-under-par 212 to win by seven shots over Kevin Hall of Ohio State. It was Donald's second straight tournament victory and his 11th career win as a collegian.
FEMALE -- Ruth Barnes, Tennis
Ruth Barnes added two more wins to her career over the weekend, defeating Minnesota's Brandi Watts (7-6, 3-6, 10-8) and Wisconsin's Teresa Gonzaga (6-1, 6-1). The freshman joined the lineup in March and has improved in each outing. Ruth is 10-10 overall and 4-0 in Big Ten matches.
