EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team is ranked No. 8 in the latest WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings as released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Northwestern (13-2) has been ranked in the top 10 for the past two weeks, and have been among the nation's top 20 all season.
The Northwestern women defeated conference foes Indiana and Purdue last weekend. In the week before, the Wildcats upset then-No. 8 Notre Dame, 4-3, in Evanston, and defeated conference rival No. 24 Illinois by the same score.
In the top ten this week are No. 1 Stanford (15-0), followed by Georgia (9-1), Duke (8-1), Florida (6-0), Texas (8-1), Vanderbilt (13-1), Notre Dame (11-2), California (6-2), Northwestern (13-2) and Arizona State (9-3).
The Wildcats are next in action on March 21 when they travel to Fresno State for a 1 p.m. (CDT) match.
