EVANSTON, Ill. -
The Northwestern softball team fell to No. 19 Florida State, 2-1, at the Seminole Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday. The Wildcats fall to 6-5 overall and are scheduled to play Central Michigan at 3 p.m. later today. The Seminoles improve their record to 19-3.
Northwestern scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Rane Gunderson (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) doubled to bring home Stacey Austin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore).
Florida State answered in the top of the third inning when a single from Monique Mari scored Becky Brock to tie the game.
Mari scored in the fifth inning on a single by Kimmy Carter to give the Seminoles the game-winning run.
For the Wildcats, Alyson Schulz (San Diego, Calif./Serra) went 1-for-2 at the plate. Brie Brown (Nashville, Tenn./Harputh Hall) pitched her second complete game of the tournament, striking out four and allowing seven hits.
