Women's Tennis Cruises Past Michigan, 7-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team earned its second sweep of the weekend Sunday, defeating Michigan, 7-0. The 11th-ranked Wildcats improved to 9-2 overall (2-0 Big Ten), while the Wolverines fell to 3-4 (0-2 Big Ten).

Northwestern earned the doubles point with a clean sweep there, then took all six singles matches. Only Marine Piriou at No. 4 and Simona Petrutiu at No. 5 were extended beyond two sets, Piriou winning in a third-set tiebreaker and Petrutiu winning 6-4 in the third.

Northwestern is next in action this weekend against Illinois.
