Women's Golf Eighth of 18 After First Round of Midwest Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's golf squad battled through the wind and rain on the first day of the Midwest Classic Tournament in Dallas, Texas. NU is currently eighth out of 18 teams with two rounds left to play. The Wildcats shot a 27-over-par 315 at Bear Creek golf course. Bear Creek is a par-72, 5,838-yard course.

Elizabeth Burden (Lake, Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) led the way for the `Cats, shooting a 77 and tying for 22nd place. Hana Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) is right behind Burden after an opening round of 78.

Oklahoma State University leads the field with a first-round total of 295, seven over par. Individually, Maria Boden of OSU is off to the best start with an opening round score of 71. Only three golfers broke par on the first day of competition.
