Northwestern Names Athletes of the Week

Evanston, Ill - Northwestern University named its Athletes of the Week for December 4. The selections were made based on competition from November 27-December 3

MALE -- Jitim Young, Men's Basketball
Freshman guard Jitim Young (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) was one of the primary leaders in Northwestern's 83-62 win against Mississippi Valley State. The freshman scored 21 points to lead the Wildcats, hitting his first six shots from the field and ending up 7-of-10 including 2-for-2 from three-point land. He also had seven rebounds to tie for game-high honors, five assists and three steals. In his first collegiate road game against Clemson, Young had seven points and four boards.

FEMALE -- Emily Butler, Women's Basketball
Emily Butler (Greenwood, Ind./Central) highlighted the Wildcats all week with sterling performances in each of the contests. Butler combined for 53 points in the three games as the leading scorer against Drake (18) and Penn (22). In addition to putting up the points, Butler tallied six rebounds over the week and 12 assists. Butler has started each of the Wildcat contests at point guard. She is currently the team's leading scorer, averaging 14.6 points per game.
