Men's Golf in Fourth at The Prestige in Palm Desert

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team is in fourth place after the first two rounds of The Prestige at Desert Willow in Palm Desert, Calif. NU shot rounds of 291-281=572 to put them eight strokes behind tournament leader Stanford (282-282=564). Desert Willow is a par-72, 7,056 yard course.

Individually, senior Luke Donald and freshman Tom Johnson are in fourth place after both shot 3-under par, two-round totals of 141. 2000 Big Ten champion Donald shot rounds of 72-69, while Johnson -- playing in just his third collegiate tournament -- shot rounds of 73-68. Both golfers trail Alex Rodger of Pepperdine, who ended the first day one 8-under-par, with rounds of 72-64.

Sophomore Scott Harrington fired a two round total of 148, while senior David Shaffer finished the day with 150. Sophomore Chris Thayer shot a 151 while TC Ford, playing in his first collegiate tournament, finished with a 155.
