The Northwestern women's golf team leads the Central District Classic in Bradenton, Fla., by seven strokes over Michigan after the first two rounds. Northwestern shot an opening round 300 to lead by two strokes, and extended that lead to seven, shooting a second round 309. The tournament is being played at the River Wilderness Country Club, a par-72, 6,113 yard course.
Leading the tournament by two strokes, sophomore Emily Gilley shot rounds of 75-73=148. Veronique Drouin of Kent State is in second with a two round total of 151. Another Wildcat sits in third, as freshman Lauren Grzebien finished the day with rounds of 73-79=152.
Four of the five Wildcats competing finished in the top 12. Sophomore Elizabeth Burden (73-80=153) is in a tie for sixth while another freshman, Hana Kim (79-77=156) is tied for 12th. Rounding out the Wildcat contingent is senior Christie Hermes (80-84=164) who is in 39th.
The final round will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 24 at 8 a.m.
