Erickson Falls in Round of 32 at ITA All-American Championships

Northwestern senior Brad Erickson (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) fell in the Round of 32 at the 2000 ITA All-American Championships on Thursday, in Stone Mountain, Ga. Erickson was invited to the Qualifying Round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's All-American Championships after his superior play last season. The ITA All-American Championships is the nation's largest collegiate tennis tournament, with more than 300 participants, and is a showcase of the nation's top NCAA Division I men's tennis players.

Erickson, who is ranked 83rd in the nation, defeated Oklahoma State's Fran Krepelka, 6-3, 6-1, in the opening round of the tournament. He then suffered a heartbreaking loss to Mississippi State's Rene Combette, 7-5, 7-6(5), in the Round of 32, and was eliminated from advancing to the Main Draw which will be held Oct. 12-15.
