EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's soccer team dropped its 11th match of the year in a heartbreaker to Oral Roberts at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.
In the second overtime, Josh Bennett took a long Mike Jones pass and finished the play with a shot to the upper right corner giving. Jones had scored the Golden Eagles first goal on a free kick in the 67th minute.
NU missed numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game, outshooting the Golden Eagles 23-12. Brandon Swalve couldn't convert a penalty kick midway through the first half as he hit the crossbar.
Northwestern's lone goal came way of Jun Kim, who dazzled the crowd with a spectacular bicycle kick in the last minute of regulation that sent the game into overtime.
In the extra session, both defenses tightened as the first 15 minutes came to a scoreless end.
With just over seven minutes remaining in the second overtime, Bennett scored the golden goal to win the game.
