Men's Golf Ties for Fourth at The Preview by Ping and Golfweek

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team posted a 14-over-par 590 to finished in a tie for fourth at the Preview by Ping and Golfweek. NU (294-296=590, +14) was seven shots behind tournament champion, Georgia (287-296=583, +7). The tournament was held at Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C., a par-72, 7,054-yard course.

Individually for the `Cats, Luke Donald (72-73=145, +1), Scott Harrington (74-72=146, +2) and Tom Johnson (73-74=147, +3) all finished in the top 20 with Donald breaking the top 10, with an eighth place finish. Harrington finished tied for 17th with Johnson close behind in a tie for 19th. Rounding out the Wildcat contingent was David Shaffer (75-77=152, +8), tied for 44th, and Chris Thayer (75-79=154, +10) tied for 60th.

The tournament was shortened to 36 holes because of inclement weather as play was suspended on the first day of competition.
