Evanston, Ill. -- Northwestern (2-7) recorded its second straight win with a 3-1 defeat of Buffalo (2-7) Saturday afternoon in the Hampton Inn & Suites Wildcat Classic. The 'Cats outhit Buffalo .400 to .107.

After winning a tight opening game 15-12, the Wildcats cruised to a 15-4 victory in the second. Buffalo fought back to win the third 15-12, but Northwestern would not be denied for long and crushed the Bulls 15-2 in the fourth.

Sarah Ballog led the Wildcats with 16 kills for a .481 hitting percentage. Erika Lange recorded 15 kills for the 'Cats and had only one error for a .560 percentage. Kelli Meyer recorded 59 assists and two service aces. Northwestern's defensive leader was Carmen Burbach with 12 digs. Leading Buffalo was Keri Shiels with 12 kills and a .156 percentage.

In Saturday's opening match, Cleveland State (6-3) defeated Towson State (2-7), 3-2.
