EVANSTON, Ill. - Courtney Allen, who graduated from Northwestern University in June, advanced to the final of the women's 50-meter freestyle on Tuesday evening, highlighting the entry of two Wildcats in that event.

Allen, a two-time runnerup in this event at the NCAA Championships (in both 1999 and 2000), clocked 25.58 seconds in the morning prelims, the third-best time among all swimmers. In the evening semifinal session, she swam 25.61 seconds and will be the sixth seed in Wednesday night's final.

Lauren Moore, junior-to-be, also swam in the event and finished 66th in prelims with a time of 27.15 seconds.
