EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's golf team, making the first NCAA appearance in the program's eight-year history, shot a 311 on the final day of the NCAA Championships in Sunriver, Ore., to finish 24th.
Northwestern ended the tournament with a four-round total of 1,247 (313-317-306-311). Arizona took the team title with a 23-over-par 1,175.
Elizabeth Burden and Emily Gilley led Northwestern on Saturday, each shooting a 74 to lead the 'Cats to a 23-over-par 311 for the round. Christie Hermes fired a 78 on the day, while Kristen Beystehner recorded a 85, and Karen England shot 86.
Burton finished the tournament 15-over-par 303 for a tie at 34th place to lead all Wildcats. Gilley finished in a tie for 64th after shooting a 309 for the tournament (15-over-par).
Jenna Daniels of Arizona, took the top individual honors with a four-round total of 287, for a three-stroke victory over teammate Julia Kraschinski.
