Jess Daley Named Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern men's golfer Jess Daley (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) was named Co-Big Ten Golfer of the week for the second time this season after winning the Fossum-Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. The tournament, hosted by Michigan State took place at the Forest Akers Country Club, a par 72 7,003-yard course. Daley was one of only three golfers to shoot under par and led the Wildcats to a second place finish. He finished the 54-hole tournament 5-under-par, shooting rounds of 72-69-70=211, two strokes ahead of second-place finisher Jim Salinetti of Rhode Island (68-73-72=213).

Daley shares honors with Matt Abbott of Penn State who fired a final round 67 to win the Rutherford Intercollegiate in State College, Pa.

Daley's second career collegiate victory follows his first collegiate win at the Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbis, Ohio where he shot rounds of 70-68-72=210 to win by seven strokes.

On the year, Daley has a stroke average of 71.14 in ten tournaments and a final round average of 70.20. In his last three tournaments he is averaging 69.50 strokes per round. In addition to his two tournament titles, he has two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes.
