Softball Falls to Penn State, 8-0

EVANSTON, ILL. - Penn State scored three runs in the second and added five in the third en route to an 8-0 win over Northwestern in softball action at Anderson Field Sunday afternoon.

Northwestern, which had its five-game winning streak snapped, fell to 23-20 (11-5 Big Ten) while Penn State improved to 32-15 (10-5 Big Ten).

The Nittany Lions managed only one hit in plating three runs in the second. Three walks and a pair of fielder's choices were the keys to the inning. Penn State then batted around in the third, as Karen Gulini drove in two with a single to center and Gina Bianchini followed with a two-run single of her own to highlight the inning.

Northwestern returns to action on Tuesday, May 2, facing Loyola-Chicago in a single game at 3 p.m. at Anderson Field.
