Men's Tennis Defeats Iowa, 4-3

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's tennis team defeated Iowa, 4-3, to advance to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Championships at the Indiana University Varsity Courts in Bloomington.

The Wildcats earned the doubles point as Brad Erickson and Joost Hol defeated Tyler Cleveland and Stuart Waters, 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Russell Bennett and Jackie Jenkins teamed up to defeat J.R. Chidley and Eric Kozlowski, 8-3, at No. 2.

Taking the lead into singles, NU won three of the six matches for the victory. Hol defeated Jake Wilson, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 2 slot. Axler downed Waters, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, and Bennett fought back in a three set match, to defeat Kozlowski, 7-5, 0-6, 7-5, to get the final win at No. 6.

NU, the No. 7 seed, advances and will meet No. 2 seed Minnesota at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 28 in the quarterfinals.
