EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's cross country team was recognized recently for its performance in the classroom by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA), earning Academic All-America Team honors from the organization.
The Wildcats boast a team GPA of 3.05. In order to receive the honor, schools must have a cumulative GPA better than 3.0. This year, 109 of 317 Division I programs were able to make such a claim.
In just its second year as a varsity program, Northwestern -- led by head coach April Ecke -- won three of eight races and finished seventh at the Big Ten Championships.
