Women's Fencing Edges Notre Dame For Midwest Conference Championship

EVANSTON, Ill. - The second-ranked Northwestern women's fencing team defeated 12 other schools to become the 2000 Midwest Conference Champions. NU defeated second-place Notre Dame, 435-410, to take home the women's championship. The ep?e (150 points) and sabre (150) teams took home individual weapon honors and the foil (135) team finished second to Notre Dame (150).

In the overall combined standings, Northwestern finished in second place behind Notre Dame (860-775). The men's ep?e squad finished fourth (115), foil (100) ended up fifth and the sabre (125) squad took third.
