Men's Swimming And Diving Finishes Ninth At Big Ten Championships

EVANSTON, ILL. -- The Northwestern men's swimming and diving finished ninth at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wildcats finished with 211 points, five behind eighth-place Iowa. Michigan won the meet with 682 points, Minnesota was second (601) and defending champion Penn State was third (514).

Freshman Kellan O'Connor (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy) recorded the highest individual finish, taking fifth in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:46.98. Todd Capen also placed for NU in that event, winning the consolation final in 1:48.93. Senior Steve Harms (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) continued his strong showing, clocking a 15:28.69 in the 1,650 free to earn sixth. Freshman Mike Shue (Ft. Myers, Fla./Ft. Myers) took 10th in the 1,650, finishing in 15:42.98.
