Men's Tennis Opens 2000 Dual Season

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern opened the dual part of the 2000 season with a 7-0 win over Northern Illinois on Friday, Jan. 21 at the Johnson Tennis Center.

The Wildcats won all of the singles matches, including two by default. The 'Cats repeated the performance in the doubles competition, winning two of the matches and taking the third by default.

Jamie Sahara played at the No. 1 spot for the 'Cats while freshmen Jackie Jenkins and Russell Bennett teamed up to play No. 1 doubles.

With the win, the 'Cats move to 1-0 on the season and Northern Illinois falls to 2-1.

The 'Cats are back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m., hosting DePaul at the Johnson Tennis Center.
