EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern (1-3) wrapped up action at the Hoop and Quill Classic by losing to Mississippi State, 70-65.
The Wildcats, who had their best offensive performance of the season, were paced by freshman Ben Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./ De La Salle), who had 17 points. Sophomore Tavaras Hardy (Joliet, Ill./Providence) put together another solid performance, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Northwestern returns to action on Wednesday, playing host to Florida State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Tip-off is 8:30 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena and the game is being broadcast live on ESPN2.
