EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University has named its Athletes of the Week for the week of December 6. The awards are based on athletic action from November 29-December 5.
MALE -- WINSTON BLAKE, BASKETBALL
Freshman forward Winston Blake (Plano, Texas/Senior) had the best game of his young college career, leading Northwestern in scoring against La Salle on December 4. Against the Explorers, Blake came off the bench to tally a career-high 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting in 21 minutes. For the season, Blake is averaging 5.7 ppg and shooting a team-high 86 percent (12-14) from the foul line.
FEMALE -- KATE RUDKIN, FENCING
Kate Rudkin, a freshman epeeist, posted a perfect 15-0 record to lead the Northwestern fencers to a 6-0 weekend at the North Carolina Duals in Chapel Hill. Rudkin is ranked third in the nation in the under-20 epee division and has been a member of the junior world team for the past two years.
