EVANSTON, Ill. - Despite a trio of wins by Amy Balcerzak in the breaststroke events, the Northwestern women's swimming and diving team fell to Minnesota, 182-118, Saturday night in Minneapolis.
Balcerzak clocked 1:02.80 in the 100 breast and 2:17.53 in the 200 to sweep that event, that closed out her evening with a win in the 200 IM (2:07.05). The Wildcats also swept the backstroke events, as Tashy Bohm (56.49) and Susannah Sample (57.55) went 1-2 in the 100 and then reversed positions in the 200 (Sample, 2:01.13, Bohm, 2:01.75). Sample also finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:52.84).
Dominique Diezi finished second in both the 50 free (23.98) and the 100 free (51.62), while Brianne Fowles was second in the 500 free (4:58.65) and third in the 200 free (1:53.37).
The women will be back in action next weekend, hosting Arizona State, SMU and Kansas in the NU Invitational at the Norris Aquatic Center. The event will begin Friday and continue through Sunday.
