EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team traveled to Florida State this weekend for the Lady Seminole Fall Classic. The tournament is a three-day event with the champion determined on Sunday.
NU's Shannon Duffy and Lia Jackson entered the tournament as the seventh and eighth seeds. Jackson advanced to the quarterfinals that will be played on Saturday. Duffy, meanwhile, lost to South Florida's Natalie Schwartz in the round of 16 after defeating Auburn's Lucy Altman. Katherine Nasser also advanced to the quarterfinals, while freshman Marine Piriou fell to Vanderbilt's Kate Burson in the opening round.
In doubles competition, Jackson and Nasser defeated Kansas' Mellaiah and Sidorova (8-3) to advance to the quarterfinals. The team of Duffy and Piriou defeated Houston's Chang and Chiller 8-0 and will play Saturday in the Round of 16.
