Field Hockey Drops 3-0 Decision to No. 2 Penn State

EVANSTON, Ill. - Penn State, the second-ranked team in the nation, scored once in the first half and twice in the second half to defeat Northwestern, 3-0, Friday afternoon on the Wildcats' Lakeside Field.

Tracey Larson scored the Nittany Lions' first goal in the 20th minute, with an assist going to Jill Martz. Larson then played the role of feeder in the second half, chalking up assists on a pair of goals by Traci Anselmo in the fourth and 26th minutes of the second stanza.

Penn State dominated much of the contest, outshooting Northwestern, 19-3, and forcing Wildcat goalie Jessica Yates to come up with 15 saves. For PSU, Heidi Leuchte had a pair of stops.

Northwestern's record fell to 3-4 with the loss, while Penn State is now 7-1. The Wildcats will be back in action on Sunday, hosting Ohio State at Lakeside Field.
