Kustok Will Be Eligible For Oct. 2 Football Game vs. Minnesota

Sept. 16, 1999

EVANSTON, Ill. - The NCAA has cleared the way for Northwestern quarterback Zak Kustok to play football effective September 28, 1999. That is exactly one year after the redshirt sophomore left Notre Dame.

?We are pleased that a settlement has been reached and that Zak will be eligible to play for us soon,? said NU athletic director Rick Taylor. ?This is precisely what Northwestern has requested all along. We appreciate and thank the NCAA for initially hearing our petition and are obviously happy that they ultimately ruled in Zak?s favor.?

Kustok has been practicing with the Wildcats since they reported to camp on August 14. He will be able to suit up for the Wildcats Big Ten home opener on Oct. 2 versus Minnesota.
