Women's Tennis Ranked 32nd by ITA

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its fall rankings yesterday and the Northwestern men's and women's tennis teams each ranked amongst the top 40 squads in the country. The Wildcat women, who finished the 1998 spring season with a No. 42 national ranking, jumped up to No. 32 after the fall season. The men dipped slightly from No. 32 to No. 37.

Individually, senior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) earned the highest singles ranking of any Wildcat at No. 48. Bohaboy and junior Martin Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden/Palo Alto, Calif.) moved up to No. 23 in the doubles rankings after being previously ranked No. 41. This fall, the duo posted a 6-2 record and advanced to the finals of the Midwest Regional.

On the women's side, junior Katherine Nasser (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) tied for the No. 94 singles ranking. The men's tennis team will resume action at the Big Ten Singles Championship at Madison, Wis., on Jan. 16-18, while the women host their first dual match against Eastern Michigan on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
