Women's Golf in Fourth after First Round of Bonita Bay Invite

BONITA BAY, Fla. - Wildcat freshman Emily Gilley fired a three-over-par 75 to stand four strokes back after one round of the Bonita Bay Invitational. Gilley is tied with Kent's Cheryl Tooshkenig, with Wisconsin's Patty Frohna the clubhouse leader at one-under-par 71.

The Wildcats as a team shot 314, good for fourth place, 12 strokes back of team leader Wisconsin. Michigan State is currently in second at 307, followed by Kent at 312 then NU. Michigan is one stroke behind the 'Cats (315) with Minnesota, Notre Dame and Illinois State also nipping at NU's heels (318).

Northwestern's first round individual totals also included Christie Hermes (t20th, 79), Karen England (t20th, 79), Amylou Dueck (t36th, 81), Kristen Beystehner (t50th, 84) and Colleen Kiely (t60th, 87). The final round will be played on Saturday morning.
