Wildcats Fall to 18th-Ranked Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Three Wildcat players totaled double figures in kills, but it was not enough to defeat 18th-ranked Michigan State in East Lansing tonight.

Senior middle blocker Melissa Doan (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Northern) tallied a season-high 16 kills and 12 digs to pace the Northwestern spikers. It was her first double-double of the year.

Sophomore outside hitter Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic), Northwestern's leader in double-doubles, notched her ninth of the year with 11 kills and a match-high 14 digs.

Senior outside hitter Jessica Holloway (Lafayette, Ind./McCutcheon) led the team in hitting percentage (.313) with 15 kills on 32 attempts. It marked the seventh-straight match in which Holloway has totaled 10 or more kills.

Senior setter Liz Renius (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) dished out 46 assists and collected 10 digs.
